FALL EQUINOX Saturday, September 22, 9:55pm EDST
The FALL EQUINOX is that point when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun. It ushers in the predominance of the energies of the third three signs of the zodiac: Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. These signs are social in nature and rely on working with others for personal survival. They seek to relate with others beyond immediate family members and instinctive love connections.
Note: In both the Spring and Autumnal equinoxes, the season change depends upon your hemisphere. In both hemispheres the progression of the signs of the zodiac – underlying the ambiance in the atmosphere – is identical, so the ritual for maximizing the time periods ahead remains the same.
Libra is recognizing the objective identity of the other person and seeing how they can fit together as a team. Scorpio is seeing into the emotional depths of those they are relating to and seek kindred souls they can bond with. Sagittarius responds to the urge to uplift society and thus the emphasis is on reaching into the loftier realms of religion, philosophy and law. They feel drawn to help raise people’s spirits though helpful deeds, a joyous and trusting nature, and an interest in spirituality, culture and the arts.
Thus the Fall Equinox ushers in the Autumn months – a time for reaping what has been sown individually and joining with others as a team to bring in the harvest and enjoy it together!
Best uses of this time of year: be willing to understand the significant others in your life more deeply. What are their unique qualities – their strengths and vulnerabilities? What do they need to be happy and what motivates them?
This information can help you to create more cooperation in important relationships. Participate in activities that lift your spirits. During these months, attend spiritual gatherings or cultural events. Develop a more trusting and positive attitude by spending time in activities that feed your soul.
HONORING LIFE ON THE DAY OF THE FALL EQUINOX Saturday, September 22, 9:55pm EDST
Timing is everything. By taking advantage of opportunities when the larger timing is right, you achieve a success. For example, when the tide is out in the ocean, it’s not a propitious time for the sport of surfing. The rules we’re shown daily by mother nature are self evident. By cooperating with that larger timing, we can fit into the natural world and use its cycles to our advantage.
By using the principles of natural timing, we cooperate with life and know when to pull back and when to press forward for success. The times of moving forward can be used for initiating new directions that are important for us. The times for pulling back can be used for reinforcing our position, organizing our lives and growing stronger within ourselves. The times of balance open the opportunity for consciously enjoying our lives and the people in our world.
THE DAY OF THE FALL EQUINOX is a time to give thanks for the fruits of the earth and recognize the need to share them to secure the blessings of spiritual forces. Sometime during the day, set aside time for a ritual that involves an outreach to others.
On the day that signifies the beginning of each of the four seasons of the year, throughout history people have gathered together in groups to celebrate bringing in the new cycle. The Honoring Life ritual suggested for bringing in the new cycle can be done alone or as part of a group that can empower the new cycle through shared celebration!
